As a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center, our experienced instructors create a safe, supportive environment where participants build confidence, independence, responsibility, and meaningful connections through horses. From weekly riding lessons to summer camps and specialty programs, every experience is designed to foster growth both in and out of the saddle.
With an indoor arena for winter riding and outdoor arena when the warmer months come around, there’s a place for everyone to learn how to ride. Our property also boasts a number of amazing forest trails for that “brain break” from working hard in lessons.

Certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, Winslow’s instructors have extended training in working with adults and children with various disabilities, tailoring each lesson to the needs of the lesson participant. During adaptive riding sessions, we work with each lesson participant to teach the skills necessary to work towards becoming independent equestrians. Our instructors are knowledgeable in mounted and unmounted skills, and can adapt each lesson to the needs of the lesson participant when they arrive. No matter what we teach in each lesson, participants will continue to grow as equestrians by gaining valuable knowledgeable.
Winslow’s PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors are also educated in developing lesson plans that can help the lesson participant reach life goals. Working towards your driver’s license!? Our instructors can incorporate sequencing and safety awareness into lessons! Having trouble socializing at school!? We have plenty of people to talk to here at Winslow…let’s get chatting. Low in confidence? Horses know exactly how to instill that into their partners! Horsemanship skills promote independence, help to develop social skills and confidence, teach empathy and respect, provide sensory input and encourage balance, and can increase muscle tone and strength. Traditional Riding Lessons
English riding instruction for beginners through experienced riders, focusing on safe horsemanship, riding fundamentals, grooming, tacking, horse care, and developing a strong partnership between horse and rider.

Each lesson, we work towards independence in riding, grooming, tacking, and additional unmounted skills which complement riding skills and develop a more rounded equestrian. No experience is necessary, everyone learns at their own pace! Our knowledgeable and experience instructors are equipped to handle any and all levels of experience, and any type of rider. Focusing on the core aspects of a balanced seat, our lesson participants learn what it takes to enter any riding discipline once they have found their passion.
Tiny Trotters
An introductory program for ages 2–5 where toddlers and a participating adult explore horses together through riding and ground activities that build confidence, coordination, and bonding. Tiny trotters will be introduced to basic riding skills while continuing to build important ground skills alongside their grown-up partner.

For Ages 2-5
Is your toddler running you in circles!? Stop those tiny legs in their tracks and put them on a horse at Winslow’s newest, one-of-a-kind experience designed specifically for toddlers and one adult of their choosing. As the session progresses, little riders will be introduced to basic riding skills while continuing to build important ground skills alongside their grown-up partner. This shared experience encourages bonding, confidence, and early horsemanship in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Each session is made up of four 45-minute classes. Cost for the four-class session is $160 for one tot and one adult – age 18+ yrs – adult can be dads, moms, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings, or legal guardians.
ALL AGES are together – classes are no longer divided by child’s age. Registration must be done online, and we are unable to hold spots. Refunds require doctor’s note.
Day at the Barn
Day at the Barn is a unique and fun-filled way to spend the holiday breaks away from school! Little horse lovers will participate in all sorts of fun activities during the day at the barn.

Get ready for a fun filled day at the barn! Participants will participate in group horseback riding lessons, learn unmounted horsemanship skills, engage with a variety of barn animals, play games, enjoy craft time, and join in on a number of other activities around the barn! Sign up for one day or as many as you’d like! No horse experience required, everyone learns at their own pace! THE FINE PRINT: Day at the Barn is offered to ages 6-12. Therapeutic Horseback Riding now has solid research behind the obvious successes that riding instructors and parents have known. Become a professional in this exciting field. There are job openings across the country!
This Instructor Training course will prepare the candidate for certification as a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) Registered Instructor.
The educational portion of the course runs for 8 weeks, meeting once a week for three hours of instruction, both in the classroom and in the riding arena. Coursework will cover a full range of topics required for certification: cognitive and physical disabilities, sensory integration, autism, the therapy horse, safe handling of horses, riders and volunteers, how to write a lesson plan and teach an effective lesson, ethics and professional standards, and adaptive equipment.
Once the eight week course is completed, candidates are able to work towards fulfilling the required 25 mentored group teaching hours under a current PATH Intl. instructor. Instructors in training will work with a PATH Intl. registered instructor to set goals and create lesson plans for a group of Winslow riders. As your skills grow and develop, you will take on more and more responsibility for teaching the group, working with volunteers, and handling the horses.

About this Winslow Course: Winslow asks each candidate to volunteer for 25 hours prior to, and in addition to, the 25 mentored teaching hours. This will give the candidate an opportunity to participate in and observe lessons in a low pressure situation prior to teaching. The mentored teaching hours include feedback and suggestions for teaching the best group lessons possible.
Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center has successfully trained many instructor candidates who have gone on to become extraordinary therapeutic riding instructors. Winslow instructors and staff will work with both the group and each participant to prepare them for the 4 day On-Site Certification and Workshop (OSWC). However, this course does not guarantee passing the teaching or the riding portion of the certification.

Please Note – Winslow requires all participants to take a riding assessment prior to signing up for the training. This helps ensure that participants have the necessary qualifications for successful completion of the PATH Intl. certification.
Visiting Classrooms

For 5—10 weeks our weekly sessions are specifically designed for children with special needs. During our time together your class will learn to ride a horse, understand horse language and commands and read a horse’s body language. Children will engage in off-horse activities like grooming, leading and horse knowledge in our indoor arena and classroom.

Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) & Psychotherapy
PATH Intl. Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning and credentialed mental health professionals partner with carefully selected horses to address the client’s counseling goals. This experiential approach allows professionals to teach a wide range of life skills and coping techniques to those struggling with mental health issues. These interactive processes provide participants with insight for observation and growth while promoting healthy communication, social skills, patience, and confidence.
